I Can’t Believe It’s Not…Real?

No really…the video above (which I strongly urge you to view in glorious HD straight from vimeo’s site), is not real. It is completely CG (computer generated). It is just way to photo-realistic for me to comprehend that someone managed to get the lighting so absolutely spot-on. Just crazy.

It’s Freeking See-Through!

Is it practical? No. Will it make it to market any time soon? Probably not. Is it freaking awesome? Hell yeah! I mean, come on, how can you not be amazed by a see-through laptop LCD panel. Yes anyone at that meeting you’re at will know you’re chatting or on Facebook and not paying attention. Yes everyone at the airport will be able to see you’re watching some bootleg movie. But who cares! It’s FREAKING SEE-THROUGH!! Thank you Samsung for making movies like Minority Report and Avatar one step closer to reality with screens like this. (Found on Engadget)

The Burj Khalfia Opens With a Bang!

The tallest structure and building in the world, the Burj Khalifa (formerly known as the Burj Dubai), is finally open, and wow..did it open with a bang! Standing at a staggering 828m, the building beats the next tallest structure in the world (a radio tower/mast) by a good 200 meters! The building is composed of 160 floors (another record), with elevators zipping you up and down at a record 64 km/h or 18m/s! I can’t wait to check out the view from the observation deck at floor 124 (highest outdoor observatory in the world).

Fantastic Flipbook Shows Off Parkour in Stop-Motion

Created by Vimeo user saggarmpit, the video is one of her first forays into animated design, or prints involving motion, and it looks just fantastic. Parkour is already amazing enough to watch, but to see it in stop motion through a flipbook (literally a flip book), just makes it looks so much cooler. Love it!

Alice In The Wonderland Looks Like It’s Going To Be a Fantastic Trip…

…into a world of crazy! This movie looks like a true acid trip in Tim Burton’s head! Love it!

I Have a Feeling That I Am Going To Like “Robin Hood”

Epic director Ridley Scott is back at it with his former movie Gladiator’s star, Russel Crowe, in his latest movie, Robin Hood. A much grittier version than Disney’s rendition, and more serious than Mel Brooks envisioning, this movie stars Russel Crowe as Robin Hood (obviously), and Cate Blanchett as Lady Marian, this movie is supposed to look behind the fairy tale of Robin Hood to the story of Sir Robin Hood of Locksley, Earl of Huntington, who Robin Hood is based on. I really enjoyed Gladiator, but didn’t enjoy Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven as much. I got the feeling that he made it too similar to Gladiator, and was just cashing in on some of the things people enjoyed with his first movie. So all I can do is hope that he doesn’t repeat it with this movie, because I don’t know about you, but I love the Robin Hood character, and will be quite upset if he manages to ruin this movie.

Microsoft Lab’s Pivot Revolutionizes Sorting & Filtering Large Amounts of Graphical Data

Thank you Microsoft, for making one of the first pieces of programs that I am actually excited to use. Download and check out Microsoft Pivot. I can’t wait to try this out and see how powerful this program is. From the demos in the video, the program looks like it can smoothly handle huge volumes of images in large resolutions. I really like the smooth job it does rendering the datasets.

Continuity Is a Minimalistic Addictive Flash Game

ContinuityGame

Continuity is a very simple, cleanly designed flash game that quickly becomes very addictive. The basic premise is you play a stick man, and can control him/her/it with your usual arrow keys. Your goal is to get the key and unlock the door. The fun comes into play as you advance, when the key and door are on different panels. Then through a mosaic/puzzle interface, triggered by the space bar, you transport your stickman from one tile to another. However, not all tiles are compatible, preventing your stickman from moving through the wall. It’s a great little game that has been made very well in my opinion. (Found on DownloadSquad)
