Viber is a relatively new application available now for free on the Apple App Store that allows users to make free VoIP calls. So what’s special about it compared to Skype and Fring? Well for one,it integrates directly with your address book. No more adding buddies, and approving friends. If the person is in your address book, then when you register with your phone number, they will show up in the Viber address book with a small icon next to them indicating you can make free phone calls to them. Now yes, this isn’t truly free. You’re still paying for data. But when you have WiFi or unlimited data,it is essentially free. You aren’t being charged any minutes, nor are you paying any IDD charges for those international calls. Finally, the app works in the background, consuming no extra juice from your phone (unlike Skype). You don’t need to open it or log in to activate it. It just works. Coming to Android soon. (Found on TechCrunch)
It’s a movie. About Cowboys. And Aliens. I repeat. Cowboys &ALIENS@@@ And it’s actually made properly with a solid cast, director and producer. Staring Daniel Craig,Harrison Ford,Sam Rockwell,it’s directed by Jon Favereau (of Iron Man fame amongst many others) and produced by Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard (and a few more).
Watch this commercial. Pretty? Gorgeous even. Clean. Simple, but not really. The entire commercial was done using CGI using 3ds Max, V-ray, After Effects and edited in Premiere. Every. Single. Shot. Not one thing (i.e. the lemon, the apple, the table, the gas flame, the ink in the water, the stove, the room, the view outside the room) is actually real. Zilch. Now how about we watch that commercial again eh? (Found on The Awesomer)
I honestly can’t believe it took this long to happen. For the past 3 years I have been looking for an application that could meet my requirements for task management. I wanted something that
was client based so that I could use it offline, synced between multiple machines and iPhone/iPad
allowed me to maintain lists and set due dates to tasks
looked good
preferably free.
I had looked at Things (does not sync over multiple machines, and only syncs with iPhone while they are both on the same WiFi network),Google Tasks (really utilitarian and cannot handle lists or due dates well),Remember The Milk (not client based),and so on.
Finally, wunderkinder has released an application called Wunderlist, which does it all! It syncs my todos over the web. It has multi-platform support (no iPhone while in beta but it’s coming very very soon). It allows me to maintain lists and organize todos through a simple drag and drop interface. It looks clean and gorgeous. And it’s free. Tah-Dah! Love it!!
By far one of my new favorite videos. The complexity yet simplicity of the video is mind-blowing. Watch it carefully if you didn’t get it. (Found on One Cool Thing a Day)
Need to kill some time but don’t know what to watch. Then you have to check out Devour.com,the latest site by the guys over at Uncrate. As you may or may not know already,I am a big fan of the work the guys there do,and I have high hopes for the site. Setting themselves up for the task of culling all the videos uploaded to the web (did you know that there is 25 hours of video uploaded to Youtube every MINUTE?!),these guys will be update and post a well-curated collection every weekday. And it’s iPad compatible. Need more reasons? (Found on Uncrate)
Flipboard is one sweet piece of code. Available exclusively for the Apple iPad from the iTunes App Store for a sum total of ZERO dollars, this awesome application culls RSS feeds from numerous newspapers, magazine websites, blogs, and most importantly your Facebook and Twitter accounts, and then presents it in a gorgeous, easy to read magazine style format. Like I said,I LOVE FLIPBOARD!
Where is this gorgeous house you wonder? Singapore. What’s up with the pool you ask? It’s a glass pool with the glass extending underground into the basement but of course. This is The Tangga House by Guz Architects. Featuring awesome architectural touches such as a second floor garden, and a tiered courtyard,by far the showcase is the L-shaped glass pool.
