The One And Only Time I Will Say NASCAR Looks Amazing

…and the have the fine folk at Polyphony Digital and Sony to thank. As part of the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 game for the PS3, Polyphony Digital has released a NASCAR trailer featuring what appears to be stunningly realistic footage from the oft-delayed game.

‘Legend of the Guardians’ Is Like Happy Feet…But With Owls…

I don’t know how I feel about Legend of the Guardians. Done by the sam epeople who did  Happy Feet, I thought that movie was awesome because it combines penguins and amazing song+dance sequences, this movie is missing that extra touch that I really enjoyed.

Brush Up With ‘Insults and Comebacks for All Occasions’

I’ll be the first to admit that there are times when I wish I had a better insult or comeback. Be it in jest with a friend (which is usually the case), or if you are really trying to be mean, Insults and Comebacks for All Occasions will provide you with everything you need and some killer comebacks. Some of my favorites are:

You have a striking face. Tell me, how many times were you struck there?

Ah, I understand – You fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on your way down.

A Zoomable Paper Map

A clever map for all those who are so used to Google Maps, and wished you could zoom into an area on a paper map. Done up by Anne Stauche, the map2 is a genius implementation of the concept using folding paper. Already available for the city of London for just £ 8.00, the map provides with a clean and easy to read rendering of a bird’s eye view of London, with the ability to zoom down to a street level view.

One Of The Craziest Watch Concepts I Have Ever Seen

If someone made this I would buy it. Designed by Designby8, the Artime seems to be a very complex, near impossible watch concept to ever bring to production unless it is in extremely limited runs at exorbitant prices, and even then it seems unlikely. Comprised of a metallic tile grid, where each tile can pop up for each second, or shift out of the way to unveil a mechanical read out of the time, this watch looks like it has more moving parts than some of the most complicated things I’ve seen in Basel. Breathtaking Time-lapse Of The Milky Way

Congrats to Charles Leung for his first time-lapse video of the Milky Way as seen from Hawaii. Shot using a Canon 5D MK2 camera, the video is in stunning HD quality that leaves you awe-inspired and really really small. (Found on Gizmodo)

Anatomy of Apple Design

Enjoy this beautiful 3D rendered video of products that have culminated in the Apple iPad. Produced by the folks at Transparent House using 3DMax over a period of 10 days. So pretty :)   (Found on Neonpunch)

Another Brilliantly Done Tilt-Shifted Video: Sandlot

Being a fan of tilt-shifted videos and photography, I can watch stuff like this for a very long time and they will still never cease to amaze me. The effect is just so amazing.

Night Photography Looks Eerily Beautiful

I am a huge fan of photography that causes you to pause and just stare into a photo. It can be for many reasons, maybe the photography is doing something different with the subject, with the lighting, or focus. In this case, photographer Jakob Wagner has used long exposure times to create some stunning pictures in his series, Nightscapes. Photographing in Cape Town, Amsterdam and Neustift, Wagner creates a stark contrast between the bright distant cities and the calm empty natural landscape. (Found on The Coolist)

Stunning Chopard L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon Watch

Set to release at Baselworld 2010 in 2 weeks, Chopard has pre-announced their new L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon, and it is a true stunner in every way. The titanium case with a sapphire crystal on the front and back (but of course) spectacularly showcases Chopard’s Tourbillon movement capable of storing 60 hours worth of energy. That titanium case is then paired with a beautiful black hand-sewn alligator leather band. With only 150 of these beauties being made, prices are expected to be around $50,000.
