A movie of ordinary superheros. Nothing ground-breaking,but the way it’s set up looks to make it a fun but action-packed movie to watch. A part of me is a bit excited to see this,if not on the big screen then definitely once it is out on DVD.

A movie of ordinary superheros. Nothing ground-breaking,but the way it’s set up looks to make it a fun but action-packed movie to watch. A part of me is a bit excited to see this,if not on the big screen then definitely once it is out on DVD. Don’t know what to watch tonight? Check out Jinni then. Using something they are calling Movie Genome,Jinni sets up attributes to movies and TV shows, and then determines what you may like based on different keywords or even what mood you are in. Having played around with it for a bit,I am liking it quite a bit. It’s got a pretty cool interface, and a simple way to rate movies you have seen or don’t think you would be interested in. The entire system is a bit similar to Pandora, where that tries to figure out what sort of music you like, this tries to figure out what movies/TV shows you like. If you want to read more about it,check out TechCrunch’s extensive write-up. Say what you want,Toy Story came out 14 years and revolutionized cartoon movies for children. Movie after movie since then,Pixar dominated the entire field, destroying the weak fight that Disney and Dreamworks put up with their own films, until Disney finally manned up and bought Pixar out right. Some may say that Toy Story 3 is milking the franchise, but there is no chance that I won’t go see this movie. It looks great, and Pixar has come a long way since the first one in therms of graphics (they’re rendering people for one thing…the first only went as far as hands). I am totally excited for this movie. A great compilation of clips of special effects from movies spanning the last 100 years. It’s really interesting to see how we’ve progressed, and how some of the old stuff can still hold up in 2009. Some biggies that are missing in my opinion would have to be The Matrix’s use of bullet time,2001:Space Odyssey for, well, doing everything, including walking on floors and ceilings in one continuous shot without CGI. I also love the fact the video is set to Rods and Cones by the Blue Man Group. (Found on Gizmodo) I have always believed that Leonardo DiCaprio got typecasted by Titanic unjustly. Yes he played a character who every girl was swooning over when the movie came out,but he did a great job,and is in my opinion a great actor. You can look at Basketball Diaries,Catch Me If You Can,Departed,The Quick and The Dead,to name a few, and he’s been awesome in all of them. And he the new Christopher Nolan movie,Inception, staring DiCaprio, looks like a brilliant mind-bender. I am so excited to see this next summer. Wow! Now I am really pumped to see the 16-minute 3D IMAX trailer for this tomorrow. The entire movie is done with hyper-real live action and computer graphics (a la Final Fantasy),and it looks stunning. While you can watch the trailer above,I can only encourage you to watch it in 720p or 1080p through Apple Trailers. I love finding new and amazing movies. But it’s really hard to do so. I started going through the list of Top 100 movies on IMDB and found a couple through there, but some while great movies,I just don’t find interesting. Likewise,I would get recommendations from friends, but fall into a similar situation. That’s why I think Criticker is so great. It learns what movies I like based on my rating (which annoyingly is on a scale of 1-100 instead of something simpler),and then can recommend movies to me based on that. The site’s running a bit slow right now,but hopefully it smoothens out in a couple days. (Found on Lifehacker) | |||||
