Being honest here, while there was a lot of buzz about a new Tron movie, since the clip was shown about 2-3 years back, I always felt that this was either 1.) Never going to make it to release; or 2.) Going to be a small time movie, of little story line or interest. This is honestly the first trailer that I have seen of the movie that disproves both points. The movie has a set release date with Disney releasing the movie in 3D (thanks Avatar for the more expensive tickets) and IMAX 3D, and there looks like there will actually be a really cool setting with a decent plot behind the movie. I know I’ve marked the date in my Google Calendar.
I don’t know how I feel about Legend of the Guardians. Done by the sam epeople who did Happy Feet, I thought that movie was awesome because it combines penguins and amazing song+dance sequences, this movie is missing that extra touch that I really enjoyed.
Epic director Ridley Scott is back at it with his former movie Gladiator’s star, Russel Crowe, in his latest movie, Robin Hood. A much grittier version than Disney’s rendition, and more serious than Mel Brooks envisioning, this movie stars Russel Crowe as Robin Hood (obviously), and Cate Blanchett as Lady Marian, this movie is supposed to look behind the fairy tale of Robin Hood to the story of Sir Robin Hood of Locksley, Earl of Huntington, who Robin Hood is based on. I really enjoyed Gladiator, but didn’t enjoy Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven as much. I got the feeling that he made it too similar to Gladiator, and was just cashing in on some of the things people enjoyed with his first movie. So all I can do is hope that he doesn’t repeat it with this movie, because I don’t know about you, but I love the Robin Hood character, and will be quite upset if he manages to ruin this movie.
MovieClips.com is a newly launched web service that is currently working with 6 Hollywood production studios through which they are licensing clips from various movies. So the next time you are looking for that clip to send to a friend from that one movie you don’t remember, you know have a legal place to go find it, and not worry about the clip getting taken down 30 minutes later from YouTube. By categorizing them by movies, actor, type of clip, actions, or even mood. From there you can then tweet, email, Facebook or Digg that clip out, so that everyone knows how you are feeling right now. Lastly, as noted by TechCrunch, MovieClips.com may be the first to offer this service, but is not the last with AnyClip.com set to launch soon after it previewed at TC50 earlier this year.(Found on TechCrunch)
A movie of ordinary superheros. Nothing ground-breaking, but the way it’s set up looks to make it a fun but action-packed movie to watch. A part of me is a bit excited to see this, if not on the big screen then definitely once it is out on DVD.
Don’t know what to watch tonight? Check out Jinni then. Using something they are calling Movie Genome, Jinni sets up attributes to movies and TV shows, and then determines what you may like based on different keywords or even what mood you are in. Having played around with it for a bit, I am liking it quite a bit. It’s got a pretty cool interface, and a simple way to rate movies you have seen or don’t think you would be interested in. The entire system is a bit similar to Pandora, where that tries to figure out what sort of music you like, this tries to figure out what movies/TV shows you like. If you want to read more about it, check out TechCrunch’s extensive write-up.
