I have fond memories of playing Mafia when it first came out back in 2004. The gritty open-world aspect of the game was very appealing, and come on, who doesn’t want to be a gangster! So it is with great excitement I introduce Mafia II and their newest trailer titled “Boom Boom Boom”. And I am excited all over again. Compared to the first game, which had 400 pages of screenplay, Mafia II is supposed to have about 700 pages, nearly 2 hours of cutscenes, and is promised to be the darker and grittier sequel to the first one. Awesome.

Continuity is a very simple, cleanly designed flash game that quickly becomes very addictive. The basic premise is you play a stick man, and can control him/her/it with your usual arrow keys. Your goal is to get the key and unlock the door. The fun comes into play as you advance, when the key and door are on different panels. Then through a mosaic/puzzle interface, triggered by the space bar, you transport your stickman from one tile to another. However, not all tiles are compatible, preventing your stickman from moving through the wall. It’s a great little game that has been made very well in my opinion.
So two things are going down today with Sony. First all the existing Playstation 3 consoles they sell right now are getting about $100 knocked of their price. Second, the oft rumored slim Playstation 3 has been finally announced. Retailing at $300 from the first week of September, Sony has finally taken the beamouth that is the Playstation 3 and repackeged it into a device that is 32 percent smaller, and takes 34 percent less power. The console will come with a 120GB drive, and the ability to work with your existing Bravia remote. Kudos to Sony for this, and the price cut. They’re finally competitive enough with the Xbox, but more importantly, making a great case to be my Blu-Ray player.
Red Remover has a simple enough premise: Keep the green blocks, and get rid of the red ones. There are a couple variations of blocks (light red can be deleted, dark red you can’t delete, blue you can delete but are neutral, and then you have squares, rectangles, and circles), and even different directions of gravity to keep the game very interesting. Fast, easy, and has a built-in video walk through for those frustrating moments when you get stuck. (Found on Digg)

To all my friends and readers who have whiled away their time playing Monkey Island (either as a kid or adult ), there’s good news! You can now purchase Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for just $7.99 for your iPhone/iPod Touch! Completely remastered with redone graphics, voice-overs added for all the scenes and characters, and remastered music, the game is a great buy (if you get nostalgic, you can switch back to the original version seamlessly apparently at any point in the game, so don’t be afraid).
