Leaked pictures of cases and news of large orders of camera modules by Apple has the Internet abuzz with rumors that Apple is going to be adding cameras to their entire iPod range (except for the Shuffle). I wouldn’t be surprised that come September and the typical iPod announcment for the Christmas shopping season,there will be an announcment of at least the iPod Touch getting a camera (similar form factor as the iPhone,same operating system which already has exisiting camera/video funcationality,and a larger market for Apps that use cameras or have camera functionality like Twitter clients). However,I am not so sure about the iPod Nano,and definetly don’t think the iPod Classic is going to get a camera. The Classic is just that. An iPod that does the function of a music player well with it’s large storage space. The Nano is really thin and really small as it is,and adding a 3MP camera to it would be difficult to do,and handle I think. Plus,the Nano (as of yet) uses the iPod OS and not the iPhone/iPod Touch OS,so functionality would have to be added to allow people to use basically a D-pad to take photos and videos,and I just don’t see that happening. Regardless,this is going to be a huge threat to Flip and Kodak who have been raking in cash from the low-end video camera market. (Found on TechCrunch. Picture from AppleInsider)
