So two big announcements regarding Apple’s Macbook range. First, the 13″Unibody Macbook is now the 13″Macbook Pro. This leaves the old white Macbook which we all expected to be discontinued all by its lonesome self. No real speed upgrade for the Macbook (CPU was already bumped earlier this month),but somehow I have an inkling of a feeling that Apple is trying to free up the “Macbook”name for the rumored Apple tablet.
Anyway, big news two, some ugprades for the Macbook Pro 15″(and well the 13″too I guess). Both now come with integrated batteries like the 17″,meaning that while you can’t remove them, they last a lot longer than before (7 hours). The 15″also has an improved screen (Apple claims 60% gaumat improvement),but the more important thing is that they (13″and 15″) now no longer sport Expresscard slots, but instead have a SD card reader (finally!).
They have reduced prices for everything across the board, with the base prices falling to the following:
Macbook (2.13Ghz) –$999
Macbook Pro 13″(2.26Ghz) –$1,199
Macbook Pro 13″(2.53Ghz) –$1,499
Macbook Pro 15″(2.53Ghz) –$1,699
Macbook Pro 15″(2.66Ghz) –$1,999
Macbook Pro 15″(2.8Ghz) –$2,299
Macbook Pro 17″(2.8Ghz) –$2,499
Macbook Air (1.86Ghz) –$1,499
Macbook Air (2.13Ghz) –$1,799
Finally,Apple has also dropped the prices for a solid-state drive (SSD) by about $200,and given the option for up to 8GB of RAM and a 3.08Ghz CPU in the 15″Macbook Pros.
