Last week, Facebook announced that they would be releasing an API termed OpenStream that would allow developers greater access to the data Facebook stores. This would allow companies like Plaxo and Seeismic Desktop to not only better integrate their applications and services with Facebook, but open up new doors and opportunities for application developers. Microsoft has demoed two different applications that some people at the company managed to develop in 72 hours (this reminds me of Apple’s iPhone original announcement where they had a little bit of here is what they came up with in a few days, a few weeks, and a few months). While not feature complete, I think that they are both very interesting applications that will really change how people access their facebook page, view their friend’s photos and status updates, and interact with facebook in general. Where can I download the shown examples?
Unfortunately they are currently only in development and are not available to download. However, Seeismic Desktop just released an update to their program that does integrate much better with Facebook.
